Allyson Wild

Research Speech and Language Therapist

Core Team

My role

Assessment Speech and Language Therapist on the Nuffield trial RCT of parent-based intervention for language delayed two to three year olds.

My responsibilities

I have assessed potential recruits at the start of the project and am now assessing them again after intervention to measure progress with language skills and parental activation. I am also responsible for keeping EDGE database up to date and for collecting and processing LENA recordings.

My background

I have been working as an Speech and Language Therapist for 27 years, but this is the first clinical research I have been engaged in.

Why I love my job

I love being able to interact with children and families and see the progress they have made during intervention. It has also been good to be able to advise parents on the extent to which they need to worry about their child's language development and to give really early preventative advice.

More about me

Alongside my research role, I also work within Solent NHS SLT team, mainly with school-aged children with speech sound delay/disorder, although since Covid-19, I've been re-deployed to the pre-school team and telephone/video consultations!
