Lauren Richards

Clinical Research Assistant

Core Team

My role

Clinical Research Assistant

My responsibilities

I support the Research Nurses on their studies in Adult Mental Health, Physiotherapy and Paediatrics.  I assist with recruitment of patients into studies and maintaining all clinical documentation.

My background

I graduated from University of Birmingham with BSc (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry. I briefly travelled South America after graduation before joining a large contract research organisation. I started as a clinical trials assistant and was promoted to a Clinical Research Associate.

Before joining the NHS, I worked for a private healthcare company for 6 years providing specialised clinics in primary care settings around the UK.

Why I love my job

Everyone in our team is so lovely and supportive!

I enjoy meeting patients in the community and I love the feeling that we’re helping to make a positive difference to the future of healthcare.

More about me

I’m a married, busy mum of one. In my (limited) spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and family with the odd glass of wine.

I can usually be found chasing a toddler around at various attractions in Portsmouth and Southsea.

I also volunteer for the local NCT committee as the Membership Secretary. Our committee help to provide support to new parents and organise our Nearly New Sales.
