Involving patients and service users in the recruitment of staff

Patients, service users, families and others that touch our services can be involved in the recruitment of new staff. As the people who receive or encounter care, they are the ones that know best how it feels, and so it makes sense that they have a say in who joins the team. Patients and people can provide a different perspective on candidates to what staff see and feel, as well as bringing skills and experience, which often compliment the recruitment process.

This toolkit is aimed at both staff and patients/ service users who are interested in working together on the recruitment process. It has been co-designed with staff and patients who have been involved in the recruitment process, and with our HR/ People services colleagues.
