AD Genetics

This study aims to understand more about how certain genes affect the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease. 

Who can be involved?

The team are looking for two different groups of people to help investigate this issue

  • One group with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease who are aged over 65
  • A second group of people a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease who are under 65 years of age. 

What happens to people taking part in this research?

If you decide to take part this study a researcher will visit you at home to talk to you about the project and answer any of your questions. With your consent, they will then ask questions about your diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, your symptoms, general health and family history. They will also complete a memory test and take a blood sample.

As part of this study you will be asked to identify a study partner. This can be someone who knows you well and they will be asked to provide independent information about you. This is all done in one visit and no further follow up is required.
