Anita DeHavilland

Quality Improvement Specialist

My role

Quality Improvement Specialist

My responsibilities

To support teams on their quality improvement projects, ensuring that Quality Improvement is accessible to all. Support with training and development of staff to undertake QI projects.

My background

I have recently joined Solent after working in Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust for 23 years as an Adult Nurse.  Most of my time there was spent on the Acute Medical Unit, where I was one of the Sisters and then the Practice Educator.  I made the leap into fulltime education within the Learning & Development Department, where I was the lead for mental health training, preceptorship, frailty training, ACP’s and continuing professional development funds.  During Covid I was redeployed, this was to help with the setup of the vaccination hub, where I then acted up as the interim matron.  This was a great honour in being a part of the wider system in the fight against covid.

Why I love my job

I love being a nurse, I get to meet so many different people from all walks of life and hear their life stories.  It is also a privilege to be able to support patients, carers, families and colleagues alike to ensure that high quality care is delivered at all times.
