OCS-CARE (closed to recruitment)
This study is testing whether there is better recovery from stroke if clinical staff and carers are informed about the presence of any problems in memory, language and attention that can occur. The aim of the study is to assess whether routine measurement of cognitive problems will help people recover after a stroke. To assess this, we will compare recovery after a stroke when people either receive the current standard care (when measures of cognition are not taken routinely) vs. when we do measure cognition. To compare these interventions we will randomly assign individuals to the standard care or the cognitive assessment groups using a procedure rather like tossing a coin.
